Elza Ray Alumbaugh, 71, of Shelburn, passed away at 10:20AM Monday May 31, 2010 at his residence.
He was born in Sullivan Co., Indiana October 22, 1938, the son of Elza Jennings Alumbaugh and Ella O. Cox Alumbaugh.
Ray retired from the United Parcel Service in 1976, was a member and Elder at the Shelburn First Christian Church, Teamster Local # 710, Shelburn Ruritan/ Community Club, Sullivan Conservation Club, Shelburn Fire Dept., Assistant Scout Leader, and Band Booster at North Central High School.
He was preceded in death by his parents, also, nine brothers, Merle, Burl, Charles, Leo, Roy, Ted, Jim, George, and John Alumbaugh, and two sisters, Elberta Murphy, and Phyllis Marratta.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Joyce Hensley Alumbaugh whom he married November 26, 1960, one son, Larry Ray Alumbaugh of Jasonville, one daughter, Donna Roehm (Dan) of Farmersburg, two sisters, Patty Wilkins of Shelburn, Lafawn Scarbrough of Farmersburg, one grandson, Jacob Ray Roehm, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1:00PM Thursday June 3, 2010 at Banks and Brust funeral Home in Sullivan with Rev. Barney Lafollette officiating. Interment in the Westlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00AM until service time Thursday.
