| John M. Kensek, 91, of Sullivan, passed away at 3:00AM Wednesday May 19, 2010 at Sullivan Co. Community Hospital.
He was born in Dilliner, PA. October 19, 1918 the son of John Kensek and Bridget Hopski Kensek
John was a WWII Army Veteran, survivor of Anzio Beachhead, a retired coal miner, working from 1937 -1977 at Thunderbird, Pandora, and Minnihaha Mines.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Wanda Wilson Kensek in 2009 whom he married in April of 1946, one son Lonnie Paul Kensek, three brothers Joe, Michael, and Brownie Kensek.
Survivors include one son, John R. Kensek (Mary Ann) of Plainville, one daughter, Betty Berry Kensek and fiance’ Gary Henderson of Sullivan, two brothers, Lou Kensek of Ca., Frank Kensek of Fredricksburg, Va., a sister in-law Virginia Kensek of Vincennes, one sister, Ann Adams of Bobtown, Pa., two grandchildren John P. Kensek (Heather) and Amanda Huber (Greg), one great grandson, Samuel Huber.
Funeral services will be at 11:00AM Wednesday May 26, 2010 at Banks and Brust Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Wise officiating. Friends may call from 10:00AM until service time Wednesday. Interment in the Center Ridge Cemetery with Military graveside rites by the Sullivan, Shelburn, Hymera Legions and Sullivan Co. VFW Post.
