Obituary:

Lawrence Leon Black, 79, of Sullivan, passed away at 10:15PM Saturday March 6, 2010 at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute. He was born in Shelburn, Indiana June 17, 1930, the son of Hosea Black and Emma Houser Black. Leon was an Army Veteran, and retired from General Electric in Linton, and a member of the South Linton Church of God. He was preceded in death by his parents, also his first wife Barbara Burk Black, a daughter, Paula Lockard, a son, Robert Lawhorn, and three brothers, Paul, Richard, and Robert Black. Survivors include his second wife, Charlotte Hauger Black, four sons, Sam Black (Toni) of Sullivan, Steven Black (Melissa) of Bryan, Tx., Russell Black of Sullivan, and Chris Mayfield (Carol) of Terre Haute, five daughters, Carla Webb of Terre Haute, Lera Jarman (Frank Jr.) of Linton, Cindy Wolfe (Mike) of Linton, Sarabeth Farmer (Paul) of Sullivan, Cindy Tingley(Steve) of Terre Haute, Donnetta Hauger (Lester) of Shelburn, one brother Rev. Russell Black of Shelburn, two sisters, Lucille Wise , and Lera McClure both of Shelburn 18 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00PM Tuesday March 9, 2010 at Banks and Brust Funeral Home with Rev. Russell Black, Rev. Gerald Badger and Brock Black officiating. Interment in the Providence Cemetery in Paxton with military graveside services by the Sullivan, Shelburn, and Hymera Legions, and the Sullivan Co., VFW Post. Friends may call from 4:00PM until 8:00PM Monday and before services Tuesday.
